Tara Gidus, MS, RD, CSSD, LD/N writes in A Guide for Healthy Nutrition that berries are a great treat in the summer months and berries are loaded in antioxidants.  Another benefit: Kids LOVE berries!  This is a great way to get your kids to get a few of their servings from the fruit/vegetable requirement. 

  • Add to milk and blend for a smoothie
  • Stir into ricotta cheese for an afternoon snack
  • Add to hot or cold cereal
  • Add to salads (all berries work well here)
  • Puree to make into salad dressing
  • Throw some berries into lemonade
